Microsoft vient de nous informer que la Beta de Windows 7 n'expire pas le 1er juin mais, le 1er juillet. De plus, il précise que le système se réinitialisera toutes les deux heures mais restera utilisable afin de faire une sauvegarde des données éventuellement non sauvegardées.

Microsoft avait lancé lors du CES 2009, en janvier dernier, la version Beta de Windows 7. Cette version rencontra très vite un grand succès au point d'obliger Microsoft à étendre l'infrastructure gérant les téléchargements et prolonger sa disponibilité ainsi que le nombre de copies disponibles au téléchargement.
Aujourd'hui, la version Release Candidate a pris le relais avec succès. La version Beta va donc expirer le 1er juin prochain. A partir de cette date, Windows 7 Beta cessera tout simplement de fonctionner.
Pour ceux qui utiliseraient encore la version Beta, nous vous conseillons sans plus attendre de passer à la version RC de Windows 7. Voici nos précédentes actualités sur ce sujet :

- Télécharger Windows 7 RC (anglais, français, espagnol, allemand et japonais), disponible jusque juillet avec un nombre illimité de clés d'activation.
- Forcer la migration depuis la version Beta ? Cette migration n'est toutefois pas officiellement supportée et une nouvelle installation est très fortement recommandée par Microsoft.
- Installer une autre version que la version Ultimate (Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professionnel). Aucune clé n'est toutefois fournie par Microsoft.
- Configuration matériel minimum requise.

voici la copie d'un mail que je reçois plusieurs fois depuis quelques jours : Microsoft [[email protected]], je ne comprend pas tout à ce message qui donne 2 dates d'expiration différentes

We’re sending this mail to remind you that Windows 7 Release candidate is available and to make sure you plan ahead for when the Beta expires on August 1, 2009. On June 1, 2009, the PC you’re using to test the Beta will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will send you a notice a couple of weeks in advance, and that’d be the ideal time to rebuild your test PC with a non-expired version of Windows, such as the RC or Windows Vista. This will be a clean installation, so be ready to reinstall your programs and data. (Learn more about installing Windows.)
So, if you haven’t already done so, we highly recommend that you download and install the RC from one of the following sites today:
- Developers
- IT Pros/Microsoft Partners
- Tech Enthusiasts/Consumers
IMPORTANT: If you are running Windows 7 Beta you’ll need to back up your data (preferably on an external device) and then do a clean install of the Windows 7 Release Candidate. After installing Windows 7, you will need to reinstall applications and restore your files. If you need help with the installation process, please see the Installation Instructions.
